I don't remember where I heard about "Etre et Avoir", but I put it on my "top requests" list at Cinemail.ca, and today received and watched the film. It's a documentary by Nicholas Philbert covering one school year in a one-room school house for a few dozen 4-10-year-olds in rural France. The teacher, Georges Lopez, is in his penultimate year before retirement.
It's a remarkable, intimate look at childhood.
