Baryshnikov Arts Center

2 posts in this topic

This really belongs under "funding issues in the arts."

Recently, it was announced that Baryshnikov had donated a painting for auction, with proceeds to the BAC to support new programming. It was expected to bring $300,000-$500,000:

Today it is being reported that it sold for $746,500 to a private German collector. I'll take that as great news for next year's BAC budget for new programs.

I like Baryshnikov's statement:

It’s using old art to generate new art.
