Ms Cao Shuci of China won the only Senior Solo Gold medal; no solo Sr men's gold this year. She also won in the Best Couple! Ms. Cao heads an amazing all-Asian Senior Ladies Medalists contingent! And what about a Sr. ladies Silver the Philippines -- Candice Adea? This must be a first and a great honor.
A tad surprising to not see the much-touted Andrei Pisarev among the prize winners, though. A laureate of many earlier competitions and the son of a Jackson IBC gold medalist, many had expected nothing less than gold for him. Things happen. As pmeja reminded us on the earlier competition thread, even Malakhov ran into 'nasty surprises' in Jackson.

Pisarev was one of the most talked-about dancers after the first round (as I mentioned in another thread, I didn't see him then). I wasn't wild about his contemporary piece in Round II, but that was personal preference on the choreography; he turned in a strong performance. In his second classical variation in the third round, I remember there some small problem, something not quite right, and he didn't really "finish" but just continued off stage. As I saw none of the senior men's medalists in the competition, it's impossible for me to give thoughts on Pisarev not receiving one.

Yes, and he performed that with no problems that I could see. By not finishing, I mean there wasn't the usual acknowledgement of the audience and applause, rather than not actually completing the piece (I've lost the program and my memory is horrible for remembering who did what in most cases, however much I try).
