First, since I haven't posted before - a quick introduction - my name is Marc Kirschner and I am the General Manager for TenduTV. This week we introduced a new program on Hulu called DancePulp, which is an interview-style program featuring a wide range from of subjects from the classical and contemporary ballet world. Our first interviewees are Chris Wheeldon and Lourdes Lopez, and this season will also include Jill Johnson, Rubi Pronk and Ted Brandsen. New episodes will be added every Friday. The second 26-episode season is already in production and will come in late summer. I hope you enjoy the program and if you have any comments or questions, I would love the chance to answer them. One of the themes that recurs throughout many of the episodes in the first season is the differences (or perceptions) of the state of dance in the US vs. Europe. So, to make sure I keep this relevant to ballet, DancePulp just filmed two more future episodes, featuring Lucia Lacarra and Marlon Dino, principals at the Bayerisches Staatsballett. Enjoy! In this episode, she discusses her move from Boston Ballet to NDT, the road she took to get into the company, and the challenges it presented. Here's the synopsis: Nederlands Dans Theater's Andrea Schermoly on touring with NDT, the company's evolving repertory and resulting critical response, and the differences between dancing professionally in the United States and Europe. This episode is a personal favorite, just because it begins to get fairly deep into the larger discussion about audiences in different parts of the world, and how the work to which they have access impacts their taste. Lourdes's interview is a personal favorite of mine, and I would personally like to see a follow-up episode after Morphoses re-emerges into the market (we distribute but don't produce the show).
