Louis Godfrey

that attached scan of a small-size headshot shows Louis Godfrey, one of the four original men on whom Anton Dolin created his 1957 male-dancer showcase VARIATIONS FOR FOUR; the other three were Andre Prokovsky, John Gilpin and Flemming Flindt.

for some reason, Godfrey is the least known, at least in terms of my own dance background/literature, of these four dancers.

i know he was with Festival Ballet and had his stagings of some Petipa works shown in So. Africa as well as in the US's Salt Lake City.

among the roles noted for him in the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts catalogue is that of the Drummer in GRADUATION BALL.
