The Academy is America's answer to the Academie Francaise, without the huge list of forgettables and losers that have been included over the centuries in that institutions list of "immortals." Villella deserves it, not only for his achievements, but for his amazing dedication to the art of ballet. He really believes -- and convinces people -- that the arts in general, and ballet in particular, are necessities in any worthwhile civilization. We need more like him. Link to comment
