Trisha Brown at BAM

8 posts in this topic

Trisha Brown is having a short season at BAM starting April 29. One of the pieces on the program was commissioned by the Paris Opera Ballet and will be danced by three POB dancers.

Anyone know who they are?

I haven't seen anything to confirm the dancers who will perform this at BAM, but the original dancers were Aurelie Dupont, Nicolas Le Riche, and Manuel Legris. Brown was nominated for a Benois de la danse award for "O Zlozony / O Composit" in 2005, the year it was created.

Well Holy Moley, that would be worth the trip. Even in the middle of my Ring week!

Per the press release, those dancers are reprising their roles.

With Legris' upcoming retirement from POB, it might be a "last chance" to see him in NA. He won't take over La Scala until 2010, and will guest until then, but it isn't clear where.

Precisely, Helene. I'm happy for a chance to say farewell to Legris. And the other two are a bonus.

WNYC's Leonard Lopate interviewed Trisha Brown on 4-17-09. She spent a couple of minutes describing what it was like to work with Dupont, La Riche, and Legris on the piece as well with Laurie Anderson, who composed the score. You can listen to the interview here or download the podcast from iTunes.
