Helene
No, it's not your eyesight Ballet Talk and Ballet Talk for Dancers are confused for one another quite often, and this has caused confusion and churn for our Moderation team. We're tweaking the appearance of Ballet Talk to make it more distinguishable from Ballet Talk for Dancers. We're trying to avoid the usual suspects: blinding colors, drastic changes, and colors that are difficult to distinguish for people who are color blind. Things may shift around as we test how effective the changes are. Link to comment
cubanmiamiboy
Oooh...Helene, no wonder I'm suddenly seeing more yellow, as a few seconds ago... Link to comment
Helene
I'm tweaking it to see what happens. Link to comment
Helene
Not the look I was going for I'm afraid I'm limited to 216 HTML colors, and I'm looking for one more that will make the home page distinctive. Unforunately, there's white, and there's bright, and it's just a matter of degree of bright. Link to comment
diane
That is a good idea, to make the two boards optically a bit different to each other. Well, I know you are not looking for opinions, but I quite like the way it is now - at 10:22 (GMT+1). But, I will happily go with whatever you choose, I am sure. -d- Link to comment
bart
I like it! Thanks, Helene. Link to comment
Helene
Thank you I managed to find many more colors, which seem to work on IE and Firefox, at least for the PC, and found some paler versions of the yellow and green. Link to comment
SanderO
Interesting, but to my eye and my monitor a bit jarring. Can we expect some other theme and variations? Link to comment
Petra
I'll take whatever colour you give me, Helene, but given that BT4D's median age is probably a whole lot lower than BT, they may be more receptive to change... Link to comment

Yes! They're also younger than we are (as a board age). I think they'd look terrific in pink! Link to comment
carbro
I think they'd look terrific in pink! I can hear the squeals of delight! At the moment, I think WE look fine. Just afraid that the difference may be too subtle -- depending on room lighting and (for laptops) angle of the screen. Link to comment
diane
At the moment, I think WE look fine. Yes, I really like it. I now find the BT4D just a wee-bit too "wintery", in comparison. (or it could just be my winter-fatigue...) -d- Link to comment

Just afraid that the difference may be too subtle -- depending on room lighting and (for laptops) angle of the screen. Everyone looks good in Pink Link to comment
cahill
I like the new yellow, I was always getting the two boards confused. Great idea! Link to comment
Alexandra
I think, as noted above, we're still working on it and there will be more changes. I have to say that I am not a fan of yellow (even in smilie signs) I think that the several colors makes the top look busy and is distracting. I get a jolt every time I log in -- and not because there's a change, but because of the contrast of colors. Link to comment
bart
Change is difficult. All the colors so far have been subtle in tone, even gentle. Nice work! Anyway, I've always felt that it's the content and the members that make Ballet Talk beautiful. Link to comment
papeetepatrick
It took me the longest time to figure out what these colours remind me of--they are like breath mints, I think, maybe Certs. I thought the simpler scheme more elegant, but one gets used to these things in a day or two, it isn't something too crucial to change to it. Link to comment
Alexandra
We've been trying different schemes, and will no doubt try several more, so please don't fall in love with anything! Link to comment
papeetepatrick
We've been trying different schemes, and will no doubt try several more, so please don't fall in love with anything! But I think it is pretty by now anyway. Link to comment
Helene
If I had my druthers, it would be black, white, and beige, so I'm trying to be gentle Link to comment
Helene
Green is the new yellow. Hopefully this will be less jarring for those who gave feedback. Link to comment
Alexandra
Oh, thank you, Helene. Green is good (I don't know whether it's the shade, or that there's only one other shade and you've done a beautiful job of matching it/making it complementary, but I like this.) Link to comment
