Here's the program they brought to Florida -- quite a good showcase for this talented and delightful group of young dancers.

Barbara, choreographed by Aszure Barton (ABT/Altria Women's Chroeography Project), a contemporary piece set to a number of songs by the French chanteuse Barbara. There were lots of interesting steps and interactions, crisply danced. The piece went nowhere, but was fun to watch while the dancers were doing it.

A creditable performance of the Swan Lake (Act II) pas de deux (Kevin McKenzie after Petipa and Ivanov).

slokas (no capital "s") by Lauri Stallings, with great costumes by Santo Loquasto and good opportunities for demonstrating technique and attitude.

The finale was a really smashing performance of Robbins' Interplay. What a delight to see the ballet danced by real teenagers -- especially teenagers with such exceptional training.

Staging was by Jean-Pierre Frohlich. The Robbins had qualities that the two contemporary pieces did not: a sense of development (actually going somewhere and reaching a conclusion), a collaborative relationship with the score, and a remarkable feeling of ensemble among the kids on stage.

As a BONUS, it was a pleasure to spend time with fellow BT'r vrsfanatic during intermission.
