Based on the original Sleeping Beauty by Russian choreographer Marius Petipa, NYTB’s company brings to life the magical story of Princess Aurora, who is bewitched by the evil Carabosse and placed, along with her kingdom, into a deep and protective sleep by the benevolent Lilac Fairy, only to be awakened by her noble Prince whose kiss breaks the spell.

In this all-new production conceived and choreographed by Mr. Sutton specifically for New York Theatre Ballet, Sleeping Beauty is danced to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky and set in a tiny, magical fairy kingdom beneath the roots of a great tree. The fanciful scenic designs are by Gillian Bradshaw-Smith and sumptuous costumes were created by Metropolitan Opera's Resident Costume Designer Sylvia Taalsohn-Nolan.

* The 3:30pm performance on February 7, called “Sleeping Beauty’s Wedding Party,” is a special fundraiser for the NYTB LIFT Community Service Program. Enjoy a performance, party, and get your own child’s “NYTB Ballet Tutu” or “Prince Charming’s Cape,” compliments of Tutu Couture. Tickets for the fundraiser & show are $75/child & $100/adult.
