rg
Dance writer George Dorris just wrote to say that Gage Bush Englund died yesterday. Ballettalk members may know her as a ballet teacher and ballet director connected to American Ballet Theatre's second company, which I think was in many ways founded by her late husband Richard Englund, who also worked with the Joffrey if mem. serves. Their daughter Rachel Rutherford is in NYCB. Link to comment
Mel Johnson
That's quite a shock. Gage was the eldest of the original Ford Foundation Scholarship students at SAB, in the same class with Suzanne Farrell, William Glassman, and Hilda Morales. May she have eternal rest, May light eternal shine upon her. Link to comment
glebb
The costumes for Mr. Joffrey's last venture into choreography- POSTCARDS, were a gift from Gage Bush. Link to comment
carbro
Condolences to Rachel Rutherford and Ms. Bush's many ballet progeny. Her influence will be felt for generations to come. Link to comment
rplaut
Miss Gage was extremely generous in so many ways. Her financial support allowed ABTII and JoffreyII to train hundreds of young dancers, and she gave such warmth, kindness, and encouragement to all. She will be missed.
