Seattle Dance Project to Perform in Bellevue in July

Recommended Posts

According to this article, Seattle Dance Project, founded by former PNB dancers Julie Tobiason and Timothy Lynch, will perform in Bellevue at the Meydenbauer Center July 25-27, and have plans to perform at ACT in Seattle in September.

Tobiason and former PNB dancer Tim Lynch had talked about working together on other projects while at PNB. Lynch had retired in 2003 to take care of his son and attend Cornish while his wife, Alexandra Dickson, continued to dance, and he was currently researching independent dance companies for his senior project at Cornish.

Lynch's research led to a vision for Seattle Dance Project that he proposed to Peter Boal, artistic director of PNB. The encouragement and support he received from Boal helped him go forward with the idea. Last April he and Tobiason officially formed Seattle Dance Project, bringing together nine professionally trained dancers, all of whom have enjoyed successful ballet careers.

"We wanted to explore different things and we didn't want to be tied down to the rigorous schedule you have when committed to a large company," Lynch said in regard to the mutual goal of the group. "With family and other aspects of our lives, we wanted more freedom."
