Dance at Dicapo
The Nilas Martins Dance Company &
The Dario Vaccaro Dance Project

Three Premieres to the Music of Billy Joel,
Tobias Picker and Ted Rosenthal

Nilas Martins, Director of Dance at Dicapo and Michael Capasso, General Director of Dicapo Opera Theater, announce that the first Dance at Dicapo performances will take place at Dicapo Opera Theater on 26 and 27 April 2008, and will feature three world premiere choreographies created by Nilas Martins, and guest choreographers Dario Vaccaro and John Selya.  The program will feature music by Billy Joel, Tobias Picker and a world premiere jazz work by Ted Rosenthal.

Nilas Martins has invited noted Argentine choreographer Dario Vaccaro to create a dance setting for Tobias Picker's Suite for Cello and Piano and for it to be performed by The Dario Vaccaro Dance Project.  

John Selya, known for his Broadway collaborations with Twyla Tharp and the music of Billy Joel, will join forces with Nilas Martins to create a unique joint choreography of an exciting new work based on five songs by Joel:

• Everybody loves you now
  
• Nocturne

to be performed by The Nilas Martins Dance Company.

Jazz pianist and composer, Ted Rosenthal, has been commissioned by Dance at Dicapo with The Nilas Martins Dance Foundation to compose a new work in five movements, scored for an instrumental combo led by the composer on the piano, for which Nilas Martins is creating a new choreography as well. This too will be performed by The Nilas Martins Dance Company.

The entire program will be performed to live music.
