Balanchine Variations, by Nancy Goldner, is on the Spring 08 list of the University Press of Florida.  Goldner's book is based on her lecture series, in which Merrill Ashley participated, sponsored by the Balanchine Foundation.  Balanchine Variations provides critical commentary and historical background on twenty of Mr. B's ballets.

But it can also be ordered through the Amazon link at the top of the page (which will help support Ballet Talk).

I'm looking forward to Nancy Goldner's book. At the same time, it brings up the perennial question of what happened to Arlene Croce's book.

And ... it's at a substantial discount.   Can't wait 'til spring!
