Thank you, Cristian, for posting this isnformation and the link for the website. A full Swan Lake in February, with 56 member orchestra! Sounds ambitious and wonderful.

Here's part of their Mission Statement, from the website:

The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM), in collaboration with Miami Dade College, mission is to establish a permanent classical ballet company and school that will preserve and further the tradition of the Cuban Classical School of ballet outside of Cuba, creating performance and teaching opportunities for the exiled members of this school in Miami and elsewhere for years to come.

I can't wait for your reports -- and those of others in Miami, I hope -- to keep us informed on how this is developing.

Hey bart, I'm also a proud member of the Medical School of Miami Dade College, so BRAVO FOR THEM!!! :angry2: This is another fragment of their statement:
"The company school will also provide a training environment for young dancers of promise outside of Cuba where they can share in the traditions of the Cuban Classical School and apprentice with principal dancers from the original company. This endeavor will preserve the style and legacy of the Cuban Classical School..." :flowers:

I can't wait for your reports -- and those of others in Miami, I hope -- to keep us informed on how this is developing.

I certainly will report bac bart!. (I really hope if they'll use the cuban choreography with the sautees sur le pointe en arabesque penchee of the Black Swan coda... :yahoo: )

It's amazing that Cuba is able to produce sufficient principal dancers for two companies, despite the hardships they suffer compared to the wealthy US companies.

Art seems to thrive in adversity! :smilie_mondieu: :yahoo: :speechless-smiley-003:
