New York Theatre Ballet Announces Tudor and Limón 100th Birthday Celebration

New York, NY - Antony Tudor and José Limón celebrate their 100th birthdays in 2008. In honor of their choreographic contributions to the world of dance, New York Theatre Ballet presents two evenings of classic pieces including Limon's Mazurkas and Tudor's Jardin aux Lilas, Little Improvisations, Judgment of Paris, Fandango and Les Mains Gauches. The celebration will take place February 8 & 9, 7:30 pm, Florence Gould Hall, 55 East 59th Street.

For nearly 30 years, NYTB has produced dozens of contemporary ballets and classic masterworks. Its roster includes choreographers Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, August Bournonville, William Dollar, John Taras, Antony Tudor, Agnes de Mille and other legendary artists.

Its artistic director, Diana Byer, founded New York Theatre Ballet in 1978. Hailed by Jennifer Dunning of The New York Times as "a discrete little oyster in the pearl of New York dance," NYTB has earned acclaim for its restoration and revival of small masterworks by great choreographers and for its innovative ballets based on children's literature.
