A fight errupted between two audience members during last night's Boston Pops concert. This reminds me a bit of our ongoing thread about unruly audiences at the ballet. According to the story, it began when one man asked the other to shush up. I hope that nothing similar ever occurs at a ballet performance! I've been known to shush-up a neighbor or two...but nobody has punched me for it.

I shushed the woman behind me at an ABT performance at the Met several years ago. She then smacked me on the head with her program.

I went back & spoke with the house manager & they made the woman leave.

It's not good form to smirk but I not toally ashamed to admit that I did.

I remember when years ago back in Havana my friend and i were attending a Don Quijote performance. My friend has not patience at all, and shushed several times an annoying young lady seatting in front of us, who obviously didn't care at all for the ballet and was laughing non stop. After a while, giving that the girl wouldn't stop sabotaging the performance, my friend finally lost it and suddenly pulled her long hair, quick and hard, at which she softly screamed and inmediately interrupted her laughing. I was embarrassed, have to say, but it worked...! :tiphat:

Thank you for posting this, Natalia. You just never know these days.

I have never had the courage to shush someone, although I have directed dirty looks in the direction of the offender(s). This rarely has much of an effect. I'm afraid to be more assertive than that, especially as I'm not sure if the current gun control laws in my state allow people to carry concealed weapons. :clapping:

That's a stitch, zerbinetta. I hope it didn't hurt.
