It was always hard to know what Mr. Joffrey's inner thoughts were, but he definitely saw the revivals of the ballets he chose as comprehensive works of total art. To separate choreography from costume and décor would have been heretical to him. (Now, granted, he did own a fragment of the show curtain with the bullfight from "Le Tricorne", but that was almost like salvage archaeology. He found it framed and hanging in a Spanish restaurant in NYC.)
