Ballet Among the Blooms

Everett Children’s Adventure Garden at

The New York Botanical Garden

On Saturday, September 9 from 3 – 5 pm, delight in an afternoon of ballet at the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden. NYCB Education Department teaching artists and School of American Ballet student dancers have created an imaginative introduction to ballet steps and choreography for kids inspired by the Adventure Garden itself. A perfect program for children age 5 and up, the kids work in small groups in the various sections of the Adventure Garden exploring the wonders of the natural landscape and the world of dance. On-site valet parking is $15 per vehicle. A number of private garages are located in the vicinity of The New York Botanical Garden as well.

Ballet Class at Scandinavia House with NYCB

New York City Ballet’s long line of splendid Danish dancers is part of ballet history and continues to the present time. On Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 1 pm The American-Scandinavian Foundation at Scandinavia House will host a children’s ballet class taught by a number of dancers from NYCB’s “Danish contingent.”

This wonderful opportunity is open to the public and is perfect for children (boys and girls) age 5 and higher. The dancers will discuss their early training, explain the different elements of ballet class, and, best of all, teach. Children should come dressed to dance!

Admission: $6 per person (adults and children) for the General Public; $4 per person for members of The American-Scandinavian Foundation, and free to NYCB patrons who are enrolled in the Family Option. Halloween Party at Scandinavia House with NYCB

Dress-up is not just for Halloween! Costumes and make-up are very important parts of most ballet performances. Boys and girls and their parents are invited to join New York City Ballet on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 1 pm for a Halloween Party at Scandinavia House and see up-close the costumes, shoes, and headpieces that are worn in real ballets at the New York State Theater. Learn how to put on make-up to look like a beauty or a beast! This event is sure to prod the imagination of all who attend and is a great program for girls and boys ages 5 and up. Kids, wear your Halloween costumes.

The Nutcracker Family Benefit

The Nutcracker Family Benefit will take place on December 9, 2006. This event benefits NYCB and the School of American Ballet. Benefit Patrons enjoy the best seats in the house for the December 9 matinee at 2 pm, a visit with many of the cast members in costumes, photo opportunities, and a glittering post-performance party on the Promenade.
