The WB announced that Michele Jimenez will be leaving the company next season to join the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam. She will enter as a 1st Level Soloist. Sounds like a great career move for Michele. Congratulations are due, although we will sure miss her here in D.C.!

Wow--definitely a huge step for Ms. Jimenez, and many congratulations to her, she's a fantastic dancer. I agree with you though, Mike--I will really miss seeing her with the WB. She was an enormous asset to the company, and I'm sure she will be in Amsterdam as well. :flowers:

In the "News" section of the Het Nationale Ballet website -- original link thanks to cubanmiamiboy -- it notes that Michele Jimenez was recently promoted to 1st Soloist ("Principal" in the English version of the dancer photo groups).

(scroll towards the bottom)

I checked her bio, and it states:

Career with Dutch National Ballet:
Grand sujet (2006); Soloist (april 2008); Principal (august 2009)

It looks like Washington Ballet jumped the gun in the original announcement, but :sweatingbullets: to Ms. Jimenez on her promotion!
