The WB announced that Michele Jimenez will be leaving the company next season to join the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam. She will enter as a 1st Level Soloist. Sounds like a great career move for Michele. Congratulations are due, although we will sure miss her here in D.C.!

Wow--definitely a huge step for Ms. Jimenez, and many congratulations to her, she's a fantastic dancer. I agree with you though, Mike--I will really miss seeing her with the WB. She was an enormous asset to the company, and I'm sure she will be in Amsterdam as well.

In the "News" section of the Het Nationale Ballet website -- original link thanks to cubanmiamiboy -- it notes that Michele Jimenez was recently promoted to 1st Soloist ("Principal" in the English version of the dancer photo groups).

It looks like Washington Ballet jumped the gun in the original announcement, but
