An email message from NYCB some of you have probably seen:

New York City Ballet is sure to dazzle on May 10, when the Spring Gala 2006 focuses on two new Diamond Project ballets that are sure to light up the night. Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins has taken his inspiration from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Corigliano's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, which is recognized around the world from the film "The Red Violin." In the second half of the program, Resident Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon will unveil his latest work for the Company which is set to Bela Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 3.

A special treat will be the performance of the Herman Schmerman pas de deux (Forsythe/Willems) as the evening's second ballet. The work premiered in 2002 during the inaugural Diamond Project and has long been an audience favorite in New York and around the world.

It promises to be a sparkling evening—one you don't want to miss. The festivities start with cocktails on the Promenade at 6 pm. The curtain will rise at 7:30 pm.
