bunions

Recommended Posts

Sorry I didn't know where to post this one...

I was wondering if any dancers have ever had bunion surgery and continued on with their professional careers. My podiatrist really wants me to consider having it because the one on my left foot is so severe it has caused a stress fracture in my 3rd metatarsal due to the added stress on the bone/joint. The way he does it though, is not the pins and screws and break the bone technique (which I know is nearly impossible to dance on afterwards). He does a "minimal incision modified silver akin bunionectomy", which seems more moderate than the traditional version. I was just wondering if anyone knows anyone who has had this done to see if your feet go back to normal (pointed/arch-wise), you can dance in pointe shoes, etc.

Thanks! :P

Kitri87,

Ballet Talk is board in which we discuss issues and performances of ballet from the point of view of the audience.

The appropriate board for your question is Ballet Talk for Dancers. You will need to register there as well, and we ask that you use the same name on BT4D, if it's available.

Once you register, please go to the Nutrition and Health. Before you post, please review the Forum Rules and the other topics at the top of the forum, to see if there is any pertinent information there.

Good luck to you!

I'm going to close this thread.
