The week is only half over, and it's already such a sad week for music.

With recent celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII, I'll highlight this quote from the obituary:

Giulini led the 1944 concert in Rome which celebrated the city's liberation by Allied forces. It was his conducting debut.

A great, great, beautiful man........his slow tempi were, like Makarova's, in service to a particular, rich, inner vision. I will always be grateful for what he showed me.
