Dale
Sort of blah, to me. I wish they had included a preview of Sylvia. And there was a Carmen piece done last year. And Don Quixote has been done to death the last few years at these galas. But, I'll be there Link to comment
carbro
Blah with the exception of the brilliant Savion Glover, someone most of the ballet crowd doesn't often get to see. Link to comment
Giselle05
Was Carmen done last year, or ever? I was sure it was Manon.... I'm excited to see Ferri and Bocca do this, I've wanted to see it ever since I saw Lucia Lacarra do it at the Stars of the 21st Century Gala :-) Link to comment
Dale
At last year's gala, a special piece was done to Carmen fantasy. It had both Cornejos, Reyes, Copeland, Molina and others. Link to comment
Giselle05
Ohh, I see. But the pas de deux was never done :-) Will they be adding more pieces, or is this pretty much set? At the City Center gala in October, I remember the program was extremely long. Edited April 30, 2005 by Giselle05 Link to comment
Dale
The program might change. The official release isn't out yet. Frankly, I can do without seeing Petit's Carman (I guess that's the Carmen pas de deux you're talking about. No choreographer yet has made, to me, a version I would want to see more than once). The Don Q. Suite might be long. Besides, there is a dinner at these things and they don't want to eat too late. Link to comment

At the City Center gala in October, I remember the program was extremely long. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Giselle05, I'm going by memory (not good) but I didn't think the City Center opening was particularly long. But it wasn't short either! The order may be off here but the first section was Nocturne from Les Sylphides and Spectre. Part 2 was Corsaire and Black Swan pdd (pas and coda only), Dying Swan with Dvorovenko and Other Dances with Ferri and Corella. Third part , Sinfonietta(?) The Don Quixote Suite seems abit like the gala Nutcracker at NYCB last December Richard Link to comment
