The opera has been succesful in creating a forum for young fans, now the ballet is trying. With the help of an adterticing agency a website is in place, but you do have to look very deep to find anything relating to ballet. A day with Thomas Lund focus more on shopping in paris than performing Tarantella. visit www.ungballet.dk and tell me what you think

Thanks for posting this, Effy -- I'm sorry; I just noticed it! Well. The Kalendar is truly special! It's undoubtedly well-intentioned I agree, the photo shoot with Lund, and the Rose Gad section, are "let's show them as people and try not to mention anything about ballet."

It's going to be a long century.....

I took me a minute to find the clip so here's where to look...

Upon entering go to taet pa and you will find the link for videoklip.

An enjoyable tidbit awaits you.

While in Tæt på click on Foto and see the Bournonville calendar. (You have to click on each picture to see it; there's one per month.)

I can't say that I'm crazy about most of the Abdullah clip, because like rock videos (and films, increasingly), the editing leaves a very choppy product. The eye simply cannot rest, absorb and enjoy. The only continuous dancing that seems to fall into the music it was set on is at the very end. However, that is well worth the wait. :)

The Guards at Amager promo is less lavish, but certainly gives a taste of a very attractive production. The lady in the red gown looks like Lis Jeppesen. Is she?

the lady in red is Silja Schandorff, stunning as ever.
as for the calender what is there to say... i go with the saying less is more, and as for the purity of Bournonvilles ballets it has all been drowned in overinterpretation in the photos. only good thing to say is at least there is a calendar and the hope that next year its better. i would like to see nice photos of the dancers showing them as dancers, like many companies around the world.
with this calendar i want every month to last 10 seconds at least like that it would be over fast :-)
i might be very wrong in my opinion, too old fashioned but i think its important that everything a company like the royal danish ballet produces should be of a top level of quality.

but after all its just a calendar, its not going to change the world :-)
