Guest Riccardo
Has anyone heard anything recently about problems at Sadlers Wells? I understand that there has even been talk of them closing down quite soon because they don't have enough money to pay the bills. Link to comment
Jane Simpson
I haven't seen anything in the last few weeks - have you heard something specific, Riccardo? There has been talk of problems ever since the theatre reopened but they have managed to survive so far. Link to comment
Guest Riccardo
What I heard was that at least one Board member was concerned about their position because if the theatre trades whilst insolvent, the Board members could become personally liable. That was when they raised the question of closing down. I don't know anymore than that but as I am a keen supporter, I'd like to try and find out more. Link to comment
Burl Willes
Hello Ricardo, The demise of Sadler Wells can't be very imminent since the very savy San Francisco Ballet Executive Board just announced that the entire 69-member troup will be performing there in late September. Burl Link to comment
Guest Riccardo
Hi Burl Maybe San Francisco Ballet should take their money up front. There were certainly articles in the British press a few weeks back about more boardroom troubles at Sadlers Wells and the departure of the new Chair. Also of splits between the Board and the new artistic director. Now there are these rumours of even more recent trouble. Link to comment
