Mme. Hermine
T. J. Medrek in the Boston Herald on Martha Mason's dances based on Edward Gorey's illustrations: http://theedge.bostonherald.com/artsNews/v...articleid=30688 The pen-and-ink illustrations of Edward Gorey are like fairy tales, conjured from both the brightest wonders and darkest terrors of childhood. They're simultaneously fey and feral. Choreographer Martha Mason's dances have a similarly double-edged quality, their disturbing implications only partly hidden by their overtly theatrical smarts. Put them together, as in Mason's brand-new, Gorey-based ``The Temperamental Wobble,'' and you've got a dance that's as thought-provoking, compelling and masterful as they come. Link to comment
