Camargo also occurred to me, but I wondered if that ballet had survived into Sergei Legat's time. Link to comment
rg Posted May 22, 2004 Author Share Posted May 22, 2004 good lead re: legnani/legat card. i can find no ref. in s.legat's rep. to damis in 'ruses d'amour' a.k.a. 'the trials of damis,' but i do find he was in 'camargo' as vestris opposite legnani, so that's a guess here too, i suppose. i think i'll suggest both possibilities in the photo's caption. I had only thought that the skirts on his coat were insufficiently full for 1728, but then we always have to make allowances for historicity vs. danceability of costume! Link to comment
