Veronica Tennant's Shadow Pleasures

Recommended Posts

I just saw an article in the National post Saturday March 6th. Shadow Pleasures is directed and produced by Veronica Tennant and choreographed by Robert Campanela. It is based on prose and poetry by Michael Ondaaje and is "mysterious, sensual, richly imagined". It is being shown on Opening Night on CBC in Canada March 11 at 8:00 p.m. and on Bravo! March 17 at 7:30 p.m. EST. Margie Gillis, Gail Skrela and Sean Ling are featured performers. Choreography includes Andrea Nunn and Veronica Tennant.

As well as her long career with NBoC she has also won an Emmy and a Gemini for her work as a producer and director.

Thanks mmded--I'll be setting the VCR for that one :D I have a pair of signed pointe shoes and a piece of her tutu from a NBoC performance back in the late 70's, so I am always thrilled to see what she's up to. It can be a rough transition for retiring dancers, but she has managed to do eveything with such style. :)

I missed it! But when I went to see "The Company" at the Cumberland theatre, they showed a short film by Veronica Tennant that sounds like "Shadow Pleasures". It was narrated by Michael Ondaaje. Tennant is doing some very interesting experimentation with dance and film. One of the smoothest transitions from ballerina to second career that I've ever seen.
