XII International Stars of the White Nights Festival, 30th May-18th


As part of the Festival there will be a programme marking two

centuries since the birth of Mikhail Glinka and a series of ballet

performances (from 2nd-10th June) entitled the Balanchine Celebration

at the Mariinsky, marking one hundred years since the birth of George

Balanchine, the greatest choreographer of the 20th century. This cycle

of performances will include ballets by choreographers who preceded

him and who came after him, as well as works by Balanchine himself. In

addition to Mariinsky Theatre soloists, dancers from leading ballet

companies from Russia and abroad will be engaged in these
