New Michael Corder Ballet

Michael Corder's new ballet for the English National Ballet, Melody on the Move, is reviewed by Debra Craine in the London Times.

Corder’s sweet choreography is infused with the spirit of West End musicals and the glamour of Hollywood, but he hasn’t neglected his roots. Melody on the Move is a full-blown classical divertissement in disguise, which could almost have stepped straight out of the 19th century were it not for the aprons and rubber gloves.

In the Guardian, Judith Mackrell reviews Michael Corder's new ballet for the English National Ballet, Melody on the Move.

The choreography runs the gamut of music hall, revue and classical ballet. Best by far are the comic vignettes in which Corder's fantasy is let scampering off the leash. The delicious nonsense of a quintet of housewives in frothy pinnies partnered by handsome men touting carpet sweepers is embellished by a string of wickedly funny ballet jokes.
