Below is from the online edition of the International Herald Tribune (June 11, 2003):

Eleven designs for a new $100 million building for St. Petersburg's famed Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theater have gone on display. Among the entries are a glass creation by an American, Eric Owen Moss, a golden sarcophagus-like construction by the French architect Dominique Perrault and more conservative designs by Russian architects. The new building, which will seat 2,000 people and is being paid for by the state, is expected to be built by 2008-10. The winning entry will be announced June 28.
