  1. I'm looking for information on ballet in Poland in general, and more specifically the Warsaw Ballet Company. And the history of Polish ballet, and any more information and resources would be helpful. Thanks!
  2. What ballets has Edvard Grieg's music been used in, if any?
  3. I had to use IE to scroll on NYCB's site. It will be nice to be able to use Firefox.
  4. How frequently do ballet companies tour nowadays? It seems to me that they used to a lot, but not anymore. Is this true and what would be the reason?
  5. It's funny, I was thinking of that today. http://i5.tinypic.com/11tamtf.jpg Merrill Ashley http://i5.tinypic.com/11tape0.jpg Ulian Lopatkina
  6. People don't seem to know the meaning of 'subtle' nowadays. I like a dance that is exciting but not feverish. Dancing that is artistic and not just flashy. Acting that conveys meaning, but is not soap opera-ish.
  7. I wish I still lived near Chicago. I would of loved to see this program.
  8. I saw some beautiful photos of Anne Snegina dancing Giselle with the N. Novgordod Ballet. I would be interested in learning more about this company.
  9. Some of my favorite photos: Suki Schorer performing: http://i4.tinypic.com/10nuj2a.jpg I love her line. 10. Yes!!! It is annoying to watch ballet videos and see only fouettes and pirouettes. It is much more interesting to watch true artistic expression, and if fouettes and pirouettes and other crowd-pleasers fit that category, that's fine. Just don't use them at the expense of art. One of my favorite ballets, Serenade, has hardly any movement in the beginning, but it is very profound and I would rather watch it then all the fouettes in the world. The argument many people seem to have for ballet being a sport is that dancers work just as hard as atheletes. That they sweat and stuff. Well, there are many activities that require hard physical work. There are obvious differences between a sport and an art, but I'm not going to repeat what's already been said. Dance is art. It's that simple.
