Many schools have a contract that the student is to sign including something to the effect that he or she understands that touching by the instructor is often necessary in ballet for giving corrections and guiding the student.

I am getting advertisements in my email every day but still no mention of casting. The only thing I have discovered with any mention of casting was on their Facebook page, referring to an article about Sydney Dolan a 16 year old apprentice being cast as the Sugar Plumb but I can not find any list of performance casting.

So is casting up for Nut yet? I can't find it.

What a neat gift it would be for ballet lover foodies!

I wonder how this is different than the trainees that they had in the past. Their website used to list a few second company members and quite a few trainees. Now they list a slightly larger group of second company members but there are no trainees listed. Pictured in the article are about twelve young ladies who I assume are in the "new" program, but I can't help but wonder how it is different.

Thank you Fleurfairy I have been wondering about this company. Would you say it is mostly Stephan Mills' choreography. I am getting the vibe it has more of a contemporary bend but I could be wrong.

Saturday night's cast was spectacular, and the Odalisques did get to bow this time! I thought it strange they were left out last Sunday. (I guess too bad for last Sunday's cast) As a matter of fact everyone bowed last night. It felt like a better closing to me.

I also saw today's performance. I thought it was great, definitely a feast for the eyes with such great sets and costumes. Aleksey Babayev was a standout as Ali and I thought Yuka Iseda was flawless, both corps members. I was a little surprised to see only two women in the finale. I know the female corps dancers didn't dance much but I expected to see the odalisque on stage during the bows.(What do I know, I'm no ballet expert) I am looking forward to returning next Saturday evening to see Babayev again, this time as Conrad and Mayara as Medora who I so enjoyed last year in Don Q.

Kansas City Ballet has been invited to perform Devon Carney's Nutcracker in November at the Kennedy Center. What do people think of this company? I am looking to see a more diverse group of companies than my usual ABT, NYC, PA Ballet,

Does anyone know anything about this company?

I really enjoyed his Don Q, so I'm excited to see Corsaire and what he does with the company this year.

Excited to see Sunday's show. I had tickets for the Kennedy Center in January and then it was snowed out. Will let ya know how it goes. I really enjoyed San Francisco Ballet perform Wheeldon's Cinderella, this will be my second Wheeldon Full length.

I agree, her shoes should also be part of the exhibit. The exhibit could place shoes from any African American who has reached an important milestone in the field, or made a significant impact/ contribution. Hopefully this new exhibit will evolve and grow.

Those dancers who will not be returning have been removed from the dancers listed on the PA Ballet website. The pictures and names of new dancers have yet to be added.

Well since the season is over perhaps they will update their dancers roster and photos on their website.

Now that I think about the title of this thread I wonder if I posted my above comments in the right place. I am new here so if it would be more appropriate somewhere else please let me know, or if possible move it to the correct spot.

I saw today's performance. I am probably not qualified to write a formal review, but here is how I, just a lay person who enjoys watching dance, saw it. Although Adagio Hammerklavier was a little slow for my taste, I thought it was well danced with nice lines. All three couples were entertaining. I always enjoy watching Ana. Misa was beautiful. It was the first time I saw Adrianna De Svatisch dance and I could tell she was no stranger to the stage. I did not know where she came from, but a quick internet search lead me to believe she was once a PA Ballet company member. I wonder if this means that she left the company and has come back, or if she is merely a guest. The second piece O Zlozony O Composite may have been a little over my head. Three strong, beautiful dancers Lillian, Ian and Aaron, with a background of stars were engrossing at first, but the spoken lyrics were a distraction to me; most likely because I did not understand them. I was impressed with the interesting lifts, but my mind sometimes wondered as the lyrics were meaningless to me so it felt a bit long. I do feel like if I understood the words, that may have helped keep me connected. I prefer music. Varied Trio was danced by Mayara and Jermel. They are gorgeous to look at when they are standing still, and delightfully charming with movement. The piece was well danced, entertaining, and fun, this one withstood the test of my ADHD. The 4 T's was great. Amy Aldridge killed it; the entire ensemble was good. This was a first for me and I loved it. My favorite theme was the first one danced by Evekyn Kocak and Edward Barnes. My theater guest said it was her favorite of the 4 pieces danced. She had seen it before. I could not choose a favorite, it was between the last two pieces. They were very different, and I liked both pieces for different things. I loved the playful choreography and music of Varied Trio, but then, a large Balanchine production with all those patterns and lines is quite captivating.

I just noticed on PA Ballet's Facebook page it says that Laura Bowman is retiring. I'm sorry to see that. I found her delightful and enjoyed watching her this season. I won't get to see her perform since her last show will be this Saturday's matinee and I won't be going until Sunday. She will be dancing The Third Theme in George Balanchine's The Four Temperaments.
