  1. It was a great show. Loved the jingle bells in snow, drawn on 6-pack abs for the Arabian girls, uni-brows on the Spanish girls & "Where's Waldo", which kept the kids near us interested in the show. The ideas were all from company members. After several dozen Nutcrackers, this was fun for them. I'm sure we'll see it again next year.
  2. The first company to perform last night was actually Ballet West. I believe the dancer you are referring to is Christiana Bennett, a beautiful dancer.
  3. So glad that you enjoy Ballet West! As a mother of one of the dancers, we try to attend everything we can, although we live several states away. I agree that there is a new energy & enthusiasm. They are particularly excited about performing Serenade at the Kennedy Performing Arts Center in D.C. this summer. Some personnel changes are coming, but I'm not comfortable writing about them. Next season will be interesting...actually several ballets the company has never performed before & I am not familiar with. By the way, you mentioned some of my favorite dancers above!
  4. Yes it has...Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Nutcracker & a spring rep (Polish Pieces, Fancy Free, Ancient Airs & Dances).
  5. My daughter is a first year apprentice @ Ballet West. She called me this am on layover on her way home from Edinburgh. According to her the audiences also seemed to enjoy the final "can-can" piece the most, but were very appreciative of the program in general. (Nearly filled huge theatre, lots of applause, etc.) Very exciting experience for her first paid performance!
