    Hi everyone!

Yes, I'm here...it's really too bad I can't use your nickname, because I don't think it'd exactly be, shall I say, in good taste...hahaha!! ;) Welcome!!
  2. I agree that all the principals are world class and have something great to offer. My absolute favorite is Angel Corella...he is just soooo amazing, and like Paquita says, you can see his joy when he is dancing. I got to meet him when I was a super for Corsaire in Detroit!! My favorite ballerina that I saw in Detroit was Irina Dvorovenko, but I really love Alessandra Ferri. I have her doing Romeo and Juliet on a video, and she's just so beautiful... Unfortunately I've never seen ABT perform at the Met, only on tour in Detroit or on video.... They are my favorite company, though, and I love many of their dancers!!
  3. I have one dance poem that I wrote last year for a creative writing class...with all these other choices by *real* authors, I don't know if you'd still like to see it, but if you do just let me know--PM me or something. That sounds like a fun project--I'd like to do that instead of my 15 page research paper... Hope this helps!
  4. Thank you for the reviews! I guess it sounds like the kind of book to get from the library when I have the time, but not one to buy. Thanks again!
  5. Hi! I recently saw a book called 'White Swan, Black Swan'. I think it was a fiction book about the lives of many different dancers. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a good book, and where to find it. Thank you!
  6. Oops...I feel stupid now...lol! I didn't realize there were videos of Fonteyn available. Do you know which ones? That's great, though, because now I can see her dance. Ever since I read her biography, I've wanted to. ------------------ Keep Dancing! ~Katie~
  7. What a tough question! I really love watching any good dancer performing... I would love to see Fonteyn, because people say you couldn't keep your eyes off her onstage. I read her biography, and I would love to meet her, if I could. Also, Anna Pavlova would be great to see. And I agree with some other people that I'd like to see my teacher dance, although she isn't famous as a ballerina. ------------------ Keep Dancing! ~Katie~
  8. Thanks, guys, for the reviews! My dance friends and I are hoping to go see it this weekend...so it's nice to know from people who have already seen it. ------------------ Keep Dancing! ~Katie~
  9. Thanks so much everyone for your replies! Yes, I have been to the Buddy Board, I posted a ton over there last night. Well, if it's only at ten theaters, I guess it's at one near me because in our newspaper it's listed as out already, for a while. Attitude and Angelina, can you maybe explain what your "M" and "15" ratings are? Actually, that's just because I'm curious... I'm guessing "M" could be for mature but I don't know. And Attitude, it would be great if you could post that paragraph! I agree that language shouldn't be that big of a deal. Actually, I was talking to a friend last night and she told me a lot of critics were upset because it received an R rating. They said many PG-13 movies are just as 'bad', if you will, and it's the kind of movie that would be OK for a 13 year old but not for say a 10 year old. So I guess it's supposedly R, but didn't deserve it according to some people. I've heard there's a not-too-nice term that's used in the place of "gay" in the movie because the father thinks the son is gay or something like that, and some people have a problem with that language especially. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful or anything by saying that!) Although, as Mel said, anyone around here who isn't homeschooled has probably heard it all and stuff a lot worse! I hope to go and see it, or rent it when it's out on video, maybe. Kenz, could you give us a more detailed review, maybe? ------------------ Keep Dancing! ~Katie~
  10. I was just wondering, has anyone seen the new movie "Billy Elliot"? It's supposed to be about a coal miner's son or something like that who takes up ballet, I guess his father doesn't like it or something. I'm pretty sure it's set in England, but then again, I could be misinformed. I was supposed to see a sneak preview but my mom thought it was rated R and wouldn't let me go, plus I had a lot of homework. If you've seen it, what did you think of it? I'm wondering if it has a lot of ballet, and also why it's rated R, if it even is--our newspaper lists it as PG-13. Thanks! PS. I hope this is an OK topic for over here and it doesn't have to be moved to the Buddy Board. I'm just hoping to find out about it and not many people have been posting on the Buddy Board lately. ------------------ Keep Dancing! ~Katie~
  11. I read a really good book about a year ago that I got from the library. It had maybe 12 or so excerpts from ballet books or short stories about ballet. It also led me to find more books about ballet by reading the full books that many of the excerpts came from. I think it was called "Ballet Stories" or something simple like that, but I am not sure. Does anyone know of the book I am talking about, and what it is called or who compilied it?
