  1. Indeed, I saw her two days ago in her fist show and she was stunning. Her interpretation was brilliant and totally of her own with a very moving final... I'm looking forwards for her farewell tomorrow !

  3. yes, well deserved after being so regular in the numerous main roles he danced (often at the last minute) after covid!
  4. there are excellent candidates in the female ranks so there is no need to worry on this side. The landscape is more complicated right now on the male side... José Martinez has pointed out the problem and I believe he's already working on it.
  5. Congratulations... A long due promotion for Hannah O'Neill and well deserved for Marc Moreau...
  6. and Bleuenn Battistoni is dancing Mitzi Caspar
  7. José Martinez has already worked on new versions of classical ballets when he was AD of the Spanish national dance company and since he left the direction, he’s a freelance choreographer with more pieces such as this Corsaire for Eleonora Abbagnato Rome Opera Ballet. When he was still dancing in Paris, he also choreographed a lot of short pieces that were danced by a small group of POB dancers touring all over Europe and those were neo classical. I remember well Delibes suite and Mi Favorita. His bio on POB web site : https://www.operadeparis.fr/en/artists/jose-martinez
  8. Florian Magnenet will have his last bow on this last LA show. He said goodbye to Paris audience last week in A Midsummer Night's Dream
  9. It was heartbreaking. She just made the entrance of Giselle and got injured in the jumps after the turns. There was a full run of bows from the cast with Bleuenn Battistoni who replaced her so nearly for the entire act. Alice just came in at the end with Aurélie Dupont and Alexander Neef for just these moments to explain she will be back. I think it was reassuring for the audience who came for her to see her smile a little.
  10. The ballet programme and cast are available on POB website https://www.operadeparis.fr/en/news/paris-opera-ballet-tour-los-angeles
  11. I think when he was referring that no one would be in the wings, Stéphane meant during the performance. Because the following act Boléro starts straight from Another Place ballet and the wings are used as part of the ballet, indeed the wings are cleared except from the Boléro dancers. Another Place and Boléro are set as a one act piece although they don’t have much in common, and curtain calls are at the end of the Boléro for Another place dancers. But of cause, as soon as the Boléro finished, a handful of POB dancers, new and past, ballet masters, etc. invaded the place and quite a few were drag on stage to hug Stéphane warmly. A lot of past Etoiles travelled from afar to be there such as Eleonora Abbagnato of course, now Rome Opera ballet AD, Manuel Legris, Milan Scala AD, Claire Marie Osta from Stockholm Royal Opera dance school, Jose Martinez from Spain, etc. Madame Dupont offered a bouquet, a long hug was dedicated to Agnès Letestu, one of his other beloved partner as well as Alice Renavand, his dance school mate who is retiring next month, a very moving moment. The audience was hugely warm and welcomed Stéphane at the beginning of the performance with loud applauses that were quite unexpected and at the end, the farewell with confetti shower and flowers were in front of a standing ovation of more than 20 minutes. Stéphane Bullion is a discreet dancer, absent from social media, but it showed last night that it’s not necessary to constantly communicate to be loved by a huge crowd.
  12. Tonight, Stéphane Bullion will give his farewell performance in Mats Ek, Another Place but will come back as a guest artist next season for Mayerling https://youtu.be/gZe4IJaC7zg

  15. The Paris Opera is organising a Concert for Peace in support of the victims of the conflict in Ukraine on Sunday 27 March at 8pm at the Palais Garnier. It consists of an evening of ballet, concert and opera. With the participation of Etoiles Stéphane Bullion, Mathieu Ganio, Dorothée Gilbert and Alice Renavand, First soloist Marion Barbeau, sujet Simon Le Borgne and two Principal dancers from the National ballet of Ukraine, Katerina Kukhar and Alexander Stoyanov https://www.operadeparis.fr/en/season-21-22/concerts-and-recitals/concert-for-peace
  16. Gustavo Dudamel will conduct LA Philarmonic for a POB gala in July https://www.hollywoodbowl.com/events/performances/1718/2022-07-20/dudamel-and-paris-opera-ballet
  17. POB tried its best to resist but with no live orchestra. Today both Garnier "soirée russe" (with Rhapsody back) and Bastille Don Quichotte are held but tomorrow, the last show of Don Quichotte is cancelled, pehaps the lack of dancers.
  18. Paris Opera Ballet triple bill at Garnier (Ashton/Eyal/Nijinski) is danced without orchestra (a music recording had been made during the rehearsals) the last two weeks due to covid in the orchestra. Yesterday, they had to cancel Ashton Rhapsody because the dancers are now too few to perform. POB reimbursed the tickets but offered the audience to attend the two other ballets for free.
  19. Yes, it's Daniel Stokes. It was a last minute change but since July, it should have been corrected!
  20. yes. I had a second view last night with a different cast and it seems to me that too much is missing than a cut of all the unnecessary scenes that don't add anything to the story. You never get into the complexity of the characters, they don't carry the story. It's more of a series of variations and pas de deux of different styles put end to end and it's not helped by the coutless changes of scenes ... this choreographic problem could only be solved by reworking the choreography to bring a real storytelling though it and also emotions.
  21. Up to me, it’s a beautiful production with gorgeous set (painted canvases in trompe l'oeil technic, a very beautiful know-how of the opera house) and great costumes. However the ballet is too long, ill constructed with too much scenes and characters. It needs a stricter editing… I'm not a big fan of the choreography either, it's sometimes too repetitive, presumably to characterize the roles but during 3 hours, it becomes redundant...
  22. I think she was not considered versatile enough for POB repertory compared to Park or O’Neill or Barbeau. However, in the past few years, she did a lot of contemporary pieces so perhaps it will change.
  23. Aurélie Dupont mentioned in an interview that Stéphane Bullion and Alice Renavand will leave next season but didn't say when
